Stitches or ..... Staples?

We had a crazy night last night. After I got home from work, we ate dinner and then got ready for bed. We were all ready. Braiden was in the family room with J.T. just playing around before we went to sleep. He decided to start twirling around and tripped over his own feet and fell right into the stone ledge on the fireplace. I never liked that fireplace in our house. Anyway, I hear a bang and then screaming. J.T. said he hit his head. I went into the bathroom with them and all I saw was blood covering the washrag. I immediately freaked out! I didn't know if it needed stitches or not. I called my mom and dad and they came over. Dad said we should take him in. It was deep enough that someone should look at it. So last night at 9:30 pm we headed to the emergency room. Luckily, we got right in. They gave us our options and we decided to do a staple instead of stitches. I had never even thought of a staple. They brought out a staple gun. They didn't numb him because that would take longer and really cause more trauma. They just put the staple gun to his head and stapled. It was crazy! I was ready for a bang at the end and screaming galore. Nothing. There was no bang. It was very quiet when the staple went in. Braiden didn't even flinch. He just had this look like, what are you doing? I was so proud of him. I was ready to cry and he didn't even make a peep. I was so glad he was being so strong for me. I am grateful everything turned out so well. He is doing great staple and all!

Braiden holding his gun that they stapled his head with. He thought he was pretty neat because he got to keep the gun. I told J.T., that is one expensive gun! Above, that is Braiden's gash. You can't see the staple, but it is there!

My Big Boy!

Yesterday, Braiden had his two year old well baby check-up! He is such a big boy. I can't believe how much he has grown. He weighs 36 lbs. and is 36 in. tall! He is growing very very good the doctor said. He had one more shot and then he is finished until kindergarten. He didn't even flinch. I was expecting him to scream and fight it. He just sat there. I can't believe how old he is. The doctor asked if he was putting a few words together. I said, "He is speaking in sentences." He then asked if he could bring his arm up to throw a ball. I said, "He has pretty much got baseball down." He can throw the ball to me and then hit it when I pitch it to him. He doesn't even need the tee! Sorry, but this is a little brag page about Braiden. I love him so much and am so grateful I have such a healthy and handsome little boy!
